What is my Verification Number?

This number is used for an extra security check introduced by credit card companies to reduce online fraud.
It is made up of 3 or 4 extra digits imprinted but not embossed on the card. Those digits never get printed on receipts, since the most common type of fraud occurs because of stolen card numbers obtained from receipts, rather than the actual theft of the card.

What does that mean for me?

When you make a purchase, you will need to enter your verification number at the time of the transaction to check that the card is on hand.

Where is my verification number located?

	Visa / Mastercard Card Holders Your verification number is the last three digits located on the back of your credit card.

	American Express Card Holders Your verification number is the small four digits printed above and to the right of your credit card number on the front of the card.
